This bites (well, almost…)

Two very small inanimate objects have been altering life at our household. And while they may be inanimate, they are on the move. Contradictory, but it’s true.

Clayton is about to cut his first two teeth. Because of them he’s been skipping meals, skipping naps and having difficulty staying asleep when we lay him down. He’s handling it pretty well when he’s awake — there’s not a whole lot of extra fussiness — but our days are quite different from the tight and dependable schedule we were on before.

Every day he would nap from 9am – 11am and then from 2pm – 4pm. One day this weekend he slept just one hour the entire day and the next day he didn’t sleep at all. Both those days he had no interest in breakfast or lunch but chowed down his late afternoon snack and dinner, so much so that we gave him table food both nights (new favorite food: Famous Dave’s garlic mashed potatoes). Has this happened to your children when they were teething?

I took these when we were at the park last week. Look at those Michelin baby arms (attached to a 21 lb, 6 oz child, as of Tuesday).

  1. Woah, he got huge!

    And yes, teething is AWFUL!!!

I have always had a bad napper, so nothing changed it that way for him, but yes they don’t eat much when they are teething and Abel (and a lot of other kids) get horrible diarrhea so don’t worry if you see this happen.

    Good luck…they get like 16+ teeth! :)
